Hi, my name is Merle and I am the Support Group Leader for the Cleveland Area PH Support Group (CAPHS).  Our group is very divesified and we are always eager to learn more about PH and share our hints and concerns.

Now it is our turn to give something back.  Our group is sponsoring a Fun Walk for a Cure and Awareness of Pulmonary Hypertension Join us for a 6 minute walk or longer.  We may be able to walk by ourselves, or we many need a walker or a wheelchair or we may have someone walk for us.  But we will be there.  So Let's WALK and ROLL together.  Join us for a picnic; door prizes; and a goody bag which will have a shirt, hat and other surprises.  Pre-registration is $15 or $25 for a family and if you have not yet registered you may do so by going to: CAPHS Registration  - click on "Get Started" then "CAPHS 3rd Annual Walk and Roll ~ a good time was had by all who attended.  If you cannot join us for our walk, and you would like to sponsor a walker or help our group with this fund raiser for a cure and awareness, you can make a donation, large or small by going to:  www.firstgiving.com/CAPHS

If you cannot register on line but would like to participate in the "Let's Walk and Roll for a Cure", send a note along with a check for $15. or $25 payable, to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association/CAPHS and mail to the address below.  Please be sure to include your shirt size. If you would like to make a donation or sponsor a group member and cannot to do that on line, again write a check made payable to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association/CAPHS

Let's Walk and Roll for a Cure

Symptoms of PH may include:  Shortness of breath with minimal exertion, chest pain, unusual fatigue, a dry cough, edema, heart palpitations, fainting and dizzy spells.

The disease, described as "progressive and fatal", causes blood vessels in the lungs to thicken, restricting blood flow therefore making the right side of the heart overwork and lead to heart failure.  It can be a silent killer but can also be treatable and therefore prolong your life.

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts.  So sign up and preregister for our FUN WALK or if you prefer, make a donation large or small any amount will be appreciated.  Go to www.firstgiving.com/CAPHS to make that donation.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!

Yours for a CURE,

Merle - SGL

Let's Walk and Roll for a Cure.
The Cleveland Clinic has offered to co-sponsor this event and there will be Doctors and Nurses who will participate in our 6MW right along with us.  Not only will they bring their expertise, they have also offered to bring ice packs (just in case some of us may forget to bring our own) and oxygen (again just in case) along with some other surprises.  What more could we ask for    how about a brief presentation...    ;o)

Often misunderstood; the severity of PH is not recognized by many insurance companies, employers or others who associate PH with common high blood pressure instead of a distinct and grave illness.  Someone with high blood pressure can live 30 or 40
more years, but someone with pulmonary hypertension, which is the same but in the lungs, can only live three to five years without treatment.
